I don't know, I think the 135i looks better, has awesome potential and replacing the crappy runflats with proper peformance tyres will make it rise above the S3.

However, it only has 4 seats and I won't be allowed to get anything with less than 5 .....

Thus ... I think next year this time a new S3 Sportback will be finding a home at my house. A3/S3 is due for replacement in 2012 so will have a decent 3 years as a current model as well.

You do realise the 135i comes with the same tyres as the S3? the BMW looks like a BMW and that is unfortunately what typical BMW drivers like which puts them into the BMW category. That may not make sense, but it's like it's own type of people.

I too like the idea of the S3 sportback.

    I've had 5 BMW's hence my like for them .... I've also had 5 VW's and 5 Toyota's. So I'm not really TOO biased ....

But if BMW had a model that suited my needs, which they don't at the moment it is the one I'd buy above all else ......

No Audi's yet, they have only started growing on me during the past few years.....

My family has had 3 BMWs, 1 Audi and 1 VW. The Audi & VW have been the best by far, I would never touch a BMW with my own money.

mate i read that the other day and fully understand it, so you can throw that at us all you want.

i'm just p*ssed off that some newbie comes on with his first and only post (so far) being negative and basically meaningless without backup. its rubbish like that we don't need here.

he's not off to a good start.

I reckon that post was made solely to provoke that reaction and I'd be surprised if he posts again.

I realise that your original question was whether a chipped GTI was quicker than the EVO but that really is comparing apples with eggs......Even if the GTI is quicker which it may well be, $30K plus price difference puts them in a different league.

Personally, I would ignore the post rather than responding.

    Cheers

sorry i guess it was a bit rude of me to post that as my first post, but ive been amember for a while now.
i have owned my polo for about 3 months now and couldnt be happier. its an 06 model black gti with a apr tune. its a great little car, good on fuel and has some poke when you want it.
but i also owned a evo7 for a year and have nothing but praise for it also. the only thing wrong with it is the 350km per tank that goes with it. if you havent been in a late model evo going around a corner it will really open your eyes, they are absolutly amazing. and they are rather impressive in a staight line if you know hoe to drive one.
i just think as great as the little polo is, its hard to compare it to an evo. my two cents
the age old discussion on which car is best haha. its always a spirited topic..
but if i was in jap and had a spare 80k, it would be hard to go past the new gtr
