    Chipped Bonnet

Gave the new GTI a thorough workout over the weekend across to Mudgee and back again, went brilliantly, some great roads out there...recommended!

Anyway, was just leaving Windsor when a big truck up front shot a massive stone out of it and gave the bonnet a right thud. Stopped and checked it out and there's a small but deep nick on the bonnet...

I want to fix it ASAP right in case it rusts right?, shall I just take it back to base and get the VW guys to fix it up ? Any ideas on costs ? Recommendations?

    cheers

What i was told is that for small nicks and chips the best thing you can do is ring someone who does airbrushing. Go to their place of business and ask them to airbrush the chip, depending on what colour your car is (mines white) it should be pretty easy and cheap.

P.s warning against mobile paint repair guys. There might be some good ones out there but i have seen some absolute shockers

id say you are looking at about $300-400 ,back to metal, sprayed and blended guards...and that is for a proper job,im sure you can find cheaper, but take care as you will cop a bodgy job.

Surely not needed for a relatively small chip.

Maybe on a metallic colour. Hence the need to know what colour his car is.

never seen a successful paint repair.as its not bonded correctly with the rest of the paint, you will find after time, whether its 1 yr or 3 ,it will bubble or just peel off.
airbrush artists will not do such a small job.my cousin is one of sydneys better artists and he wont get out of bed for less than a 2k job!
