Caution Light on after tyre change!?

I'm home sick and gf is got a flat tyre after she hit a pothole. She changed the tyre and as shes on her way back home the some caution light came on in the dash. I don't know exactly whats happening as im getting the info over the phone. Hope anyone can comfort me if they have had any similar situation.

I reckon she's just got to reset the tyre pressure sensor. Tell her to hold down the button until it 'dings'. If it's not that, you need to find out what caution light it is.

Yes this is true, but all tyres must be at the same pressure, the TPM works off the wheel speed sensor's on Polo and Golf.

The TPM does work off the wheel speed sensor, but it calculates it based on whatever pressures are in there at the moment you press and hold the reset.

I've run 28psi at the rear and 37psi on the front (why is not important) but pressing and holding the tyre button tells the sensors that whatever tyre pressure is in there now, that's what I want and alert me if it changes.

correct it goes off the rolling radius and of your tyre looses pressure the rolling radius decreases bringing up the light!! it has saved me a few tyres!!

The only thing with the tyre pressure indicator is that it doesn't pin point which tyre is out, so you've got to do some investigating there if it hasn't deflated by much - seeing which way the car's leaning, or whether you've overloaded one corner of the car at all ect.

    You'll eventually find out anyway.

As Ralfi says - you can find out which one the cheap way (using a gauge), or you can find out the expensive way (when you trash a tyre and it goes flat at the bottom)

yeah it was the tyre pressure warning. I asked her over the phone if it was a sign of tyre but she said it was an engine warning light, which was what worried me as i thought there might have been more damage such as a cracked oil sump of something which was my main worry. But yeah when she got home i lowered the air in the spair as it was at 45psi while the rest were 36 and reset it. Also looked quickly at the flat tyre and it looks like there is no damage to it but i don't know ...will take the tyre to get checked on monday hope its fine.

spot on mate!.... it certainly can't work out the pressure in your tyres like said above.
