Buying Performance parts for Gti polo

Ok guys I manufacture parts for Nissans, mainly the Sr20 range and build them as well for race, drift, street etc
and my new line is euro,

I am thinking of picking up a 08/09 gti polo to play around with.

Is there a market for performance parts like, turbo back exhausts, short shifters, intercooler kits, cams, valve springs etc?

I seen a few items but the price is just HUGE!

I don't think you'll sell many cams or valve springs but intercoolers and downpipe/exhausts might go down well.

I think the range will get bigger and bigger...The 1.8 20V turbo engine is very common, but the biggest problem for us is the cost of getting parts from overseas. It would be awesome to see a local market get bigger here.

The VW scene is not the same as you may find with Jap cars. As Gavin said you may find there is not a market for certain parts like there would be for the SR20 engine. I think bolt-on type parts would sell better to the Polo guys.

There is not much choice for the Polo owners out there, not in this country anyway. Any new quality products would be welcome by Polo owners. But quality is a factor and some guys wont go for wank factor mods. A few of the guys here refuse to install an atmospheric (or semi atmospheric) type BOV. So the scene here is somewhat different to what you may be used to if you havent been in it.

The bonus is that there are a few models that run the 1.8T engine (with some variances in specs). The 1.8T engine in the Polo GTI has been used in Audi's and previous gen (MK4) Golf GTI, plus Seat's which we never got here in Oz.

Bolt-on parts such as intercoolers and exhaust would be wecomed for sure... also coilover suspension that doesn't cost a bomb

Only problem why the parts are so expensive (from what I can see) is that there is not much competition in the Euro tuning scene.. I think this may have something to do with the low car sale volumes though..

    Thanks for the replies guys.
Its not going to be cheap rubbish, Im not going to invest 50k+ for nothing, Hence the post and detailed researched first.

My focus would be on intercooler kits and turbo back systems to start with,
Moving to induction mods, and handling but mainly the go fast bits.

Also want to make a bolt on low cost brake upgrade,

Is there anywhere I could find some detailed specs on the engines of the polo.

Don't want to have to buy one and pull it down to find out.

    Afm/map.
    Injector size
    cam size
    Head CC
crank type, piston type, conrod type
Main type, Head design, manifold chamber flow test/chart/pics details etc

by 2010 I want to offer a off the shelf DYI bolt on Bi turbo kit for the r32's so this is a stepping stone into the euro market for me.

You should find a way to get bigger tyres on the Polo, then you'll have a much bigger market as it won't be so pointless having more power.

Did you know they aren't making them any more? The replacement is an AWD higher output 2.0T (basically an Audi S3 in VW clothing).

Why do you manufacture only for the SR20?

CA18 is by far the better engine?

Why would you bother? The Polo GTI is the fastest vehicle available to drive on public roads in Australia! I mean, once you've decided which chip you want and whether or not to run a forge RSB... There's really no need for anything else!
