I'm currently on 84k km's. I'm suspecting I'm still on my original discs, but they need to be replaced now. Pads wise, I'm probably looking at getting between 30-40k km's off my Ferodo Platinum's. I don't drive spiritedly all the time, but the track use is where I tend to use them, LOL.

i got a 2006 model, had it since new.
i've only done 55,000kms and im still on original discs and pads. while rotating tyres on the weekend i checked and still got plenty of pad wear left and the discs have less than 1mm lip on the edge...so they are prob still ok for a few more kms.

    i have similar issues...
just wondering... how do i really measure the 'lip' at the edge?
and do i have to change new brake pads if i upgrade new rotors? I only had new pads last 10,000k.. ermm

with a micrometer you can measure the width of the disk on the lip and then just under the lip on the narrower part. and compare with the "factory" measurement for how thick the disk should be (i font know what it it).

its ok to change pads on old rotors but not recommended the other way around. so if you change rotors, change the pads too.

I know I'm dredging up an old thread here, but I wonder if those of you who have changed your brakes, do you happen to know if they have reduced your stopping distance and helped eliviate brake fade? I ask because I know on the new PoG there is alot of critisism of it's braking performance, so before I go jumping into buying new pads, I wonder if any of you polo owners happened to measure your stopping distances before and after changing your brakes and if you recorded it?

i never bothered measuring anything the slotted rotors and remsa pads were half the price of oem parts anyway
