I assume you are talking about using this with a much bigger turbo? Would be pointless with the stock one.
I was reading through a VWVortex thread about modding the 1.8T.
VWVortex.com - My Stock turbo tuning guide
What got my interest was the manual dual stage boost controller.
Motorsport Kits
The ability to switch between regular and high boost instantlly via a dasboard or hidden control
would be benificial.
It could make a high boost car easier to drive in city driving plus reduce fuel consumption and
engine wear.
How feasible is this on the Polo 1.8T?
Are there any disadvantages to this setup?
p.s. Lots of interesting tuning info for the 1.8T on the top link.

MODS- TOO MANY
our ECU has more control than the older VAG's, I'd stay with a proper tune personally.
BTW, I have a basic MBC sitting around if you wanted to have a go. Its a fairly cheap but reputable one, ball-bearing / spring design.
Frankenturbo going on soon. Delivery should be early next week. I am just finishing mods off before installing turbo.
Boost gauge going in tomorrow.
It can be setup with limited boost for first and maybe second gear helping traction off the line. Once you break traction it always takes a while to back off, feather the throttle, gain traction then accelerate again.
