    bonnet scoop?

    hey all,
i realise some may not want approve of this mod, and in the spirit of increasing my gti's efficiency, i was wondering if anyone has cut a hole in their bonnet and connected the opening to their airfilter box?
im not thinking of putting a plastic scoop on it, just a hole > so looking from side on, there would be no change in profile of the original bonnet.
if anyone has done this, how have you controlled rain water from entering the airbox?
is this mod even worth while - is the cold air intake tube enough for the standard motor and what about the chipped and modified motors?

I think without the scoop, you may not be getting any more air.

With the upgraded Seat air inlet piping, it works with the car pushing through the air to assist forcing air into the piping.

If you were going to go for a bonnet mod, I'd be pairing it with a Pod filter.

    bonnet scoop ??

Please don't ... I ended up modifying the intake pipe to increase airflow. At the moment i wouldn't be worrying about performance it's a scorcha here. Probably best thing would be :

Front mount intercooler , seat cupra R induction , ecu flash , forget the bonnet scoop ( leave it to the wannabes )

    forcing air

remember with a turbo it forces the air , having a ram air really doesn't do much , the idea is to get cold air available to the car rather that the heat from under the bonnet ... but please don't cut the bonnet

    classic comment.

i'm not cutting my bonnet. i may grab one from a wrecker somewhere and experiment - just for the sake of experimentation, but me being me, i'll revert back to the factory bonnet in about 20 mins. i am a sucker for stock looking cars.

save the money from buying another bonnet and messing around with and and buy a fmic. or spend the time figuring out a better intake route eithout cutting the bonnet, then tell us all how to do it
