I think that it was binnyvo who took a snap of his new cda, and i think he had it fed right up into the square box-thingy that many people have been cutting the flap out of when installing the Seat 150 air intake.

Would that be cold air? Something's telling me that there's alot more to CAI's than meets the eye.

Thats exacly where I thought you would route it; where the stock air intake connects just under the front of bonnet. Can someone elaborate?

so would anything be wrong with rerouting it around the battery on the far side to link up to where the stock ait intake usualy sits?,......maybe thats what mozzy's idea was ,.....not sure?......just brain storming.

It is possible to run the pipe around the battery but not on a stock battery. I looked into this for a while to try and figure out the best way to go about it. The kit shown on that website has a small hose that goes no-where. You can clearly see the black hose is not more than about 10 - 15 cm long. That hose that BMC put in their filter kits does not stretch out, its actually quite stiff.

I did this upgrade and had to remove the window washer bottle to feed the hose next to the spot light. My set up is not complete, I had to cut a few corners and rush the final touches as I was running out of time and needed the car back on the road.

I can not really feel any performance increase but the air intake temp is better than with stock filter and Seat intake. I use ScanGuageII to monitor the air intake temp and when cruising the intake temp is around 2deg warmer than the ambient, as shown on the factory dash (I have seen it out just 1 deg from ambient). Previously it would not get within 4 deg of ambient temp. The intake temp also appears not to fluctuate as much as it did before. Overall I am happy with the outcome it makes a nice induction noise, not too loud, and I also think there is some performance gain if the intake temperature is lower even if I cant really feel it.

Far out I didn't realise how massive the CDA was! That actually looks larger than the one in the pic on that Japanese site. Is it a different model? I can see now how cramped everything is. So it looks like your battery is now laying down on its side? All that looks so different to stock I can't even see where the stock intake would have gone.
Also what is that tiny little "mini pod" like K&N filter down in the lower left corner? What's that for?
And you say you don't notice any difference to the stock filter/SEAT? I find that odd because just putting in a K&N panel filter in my car made a massive amount of difference to the engine's performance. More so than any other mod in the intake system. I am supprised you dont get really noticable results from this BMC setup.

The battery is a dry cell you can mount them any way you want, except upside down. Same as Odyssey batteries only its a different brand.

The little filter is for the air pump, your factory setup is via black plastic hose from your air box.

The engine bay is tight in the polo there is no arguing that. I also thought I would have more room to work with once the factory air box was gone and a smaller battery fitted.

As for the performance I find it kinda hard to tell due to the fact that the ambient air temp fluctuates everyday. In terms of free flow it does feel less restrictive than the standard setup. The gains to be had with an intake are not exactly massive.

Here is another pic maybe this will give you an idea where all the stock bits should be. Keep in mind the setup is not completely finished. Small things like the air filter bracket (where is too close to the body), silicone hose needs replacing (couldn't get the right size at the time and I was already committed to doing the setup) etc.

ive got an interesting link id like to share. this engine probably has more mods then you can poke a stick at including, battery and washer bottle relocation.they seem to be using the same space i queried before.(behind the lefthand fog lights)

Wow! Some beast. It looks as though they have put extra holes through the lower grills (inside the foggies) to get the cold air they need - neat idea.
