    BlueMotion

    All this talk of ultra-frugal cars has me excited. I am constantly making sure I'm driving to the optimum to save fuel. It's a challenge that I love and some of you just don't understand

    Which is why BlueMotion has me intrigued. I want to find out every detail.

    I have a few questions on BlueMotion:
    Any word on when the 1.2L TDI concept will be in production? I'm guessing it'll be a Europe-only car for the forseeable future, just like the current 9N3 1.4L BlueMotion was/is.
    Will the 1.6L TDI BlueMotion have Start-Stop and Regenerative Braking? If not, why not? This would save heaps on a city run! Although, I tend to drive when it isn't too busy on the roads.
    Can anyone tell me why the DSG transmission offers better fuel economy? Or is it just the way they test it favours the DSG more? Is there still hope for the manual?!?!
    What transmission/s will be available with the 1.6L TDI BlueMotion? The current 9N3 BlueMotion is only available with a 5-speed manual, but it appears the 7-speed DSG is the preferred box for the 2010 version.

    Any other info/tid-bits much appreciated. Happy fuel-reduced motoring.

    I'd expect as much a response from those who have "GTI" in their name

    Maybe someone can answer my questions that aren't in fact covered in those threads. This thread is also meant as an overall BlueMotion discussion.

    No

    If not, why not?
    Unsure at this stage VW has not released info on the BlueMotion Technology package yet

    Its faster than a manual as it selects the next gear prior to change.

    1.6 TDI has 7 speed option not with BlueMotion Technology package though

    So the DSG has better fuel economy, yet manual is only available for Bluemotion How does that figure?

    Mmmmm...Ok than...7 speed auto in a 1.2L Diesel...As much as I love Diesels, this seem like overkill...Manual for me any day...DSG sucks the big one.

    i thought DSG uses just a tiny weee more fuel than manual.

    I think it varies depending on model - some use more, some use less. Possibly it depends on engine torque, gearing and test procedures. Just buy the one you prefer (if it is available on the car you want).

    am i right to asume dsg (sorry if this sounds like a dumb question) is semi auto gearbox? can be left as a automatic or if not you can change gears manually by moving the gear stick up or down.
