Cost can be between $300-$400 I got mine cheaper but that was before the crash, could be more these days or if you order them online you have to factor in shipping.

Install can be between $200-$400, I paid $350 but i got a few things put on at the same time.

The H&R springs in Polo GTI's link are the right model.

Don't need new shocks but your stock ones will probably go sooner than if you were on original springs

I paid just shy of $300 for the springs. Got quoted at Good Year $500+ to install, hahaha, muppets thought the rear was the difficult end to put springs in...
I'm doing springs only. If I don't like the ride I'll probably take em out and sell them. Not too keen to replace all the suspension as I only want it slightly lower, not fussed on improving handling at the moment, plus quite happy with the ride quality standard.

Can anyone please offer a specific DIY thread (any step by step) for the install? I've searched and coming up blank, even in the Mk IV section.

For those of you in Sydney, could you please recommend a place for installation and price?

    Cheers!

Installed mine last week. The rear was easy meat but not the front. Foremen needs to take out the entire knuckle out, took about 1-2 hours

Comfort is surprisingly the same except there's hint of 'unsettlement' when going through yellow strips. Now fancy H&R or Whiteline ARB
