    been working on a prototype....

    for the pogo drivers...

i have teamed up with ModShack TTuned to come up with an Air Intake for you

    here's just a teaser :

We're just sorting out the bracket for the install, and a few other little bits and pieces....

Floody has been driving around with it for a few weeks now, so I'll let him fill in his impressions of driving with it. We've also fitted a MOFO and some low profile engine trim to help keep the engine bay cool.

I believe it'll be dyno'd towards the beginning of February as well!

    cheers - ian

This looks quite promising Ian - looks like it will resolve the whole heatsoaking issue for some people that experienced it with their POD setup.

Looking forward to the dyno results!

I'd like to see results after the car has been running for 30mins.

As Ryan knows, the engine bay gets very hot after a while ... everywhere ...

Even the far left fender side bay wall gets to by quite hot and that causes heatsoak. IMO the engine bay just does not have enough airflow (and space) to accomodate any kind of filter setup like that.

I can't agree more, it can get stinking hot under there.

One part of the install was the low profile engine trim, which improve air flow (cooling) through the engine bay

    here's a link

and we're still looking at other ways to ensure cooler air gets to it (good ole prototype). I actually had a feel of Pauls intake after an hour drive, and it felt remarkably cool-ish.

i think you will need to supply each one with a shoehorn to fit it as well!

not much room in that engine bay!

    Ian,

Log the actual grams of air - that can show true gains, its been done with the Seat intakes vs stock & the BMC vs stock also with the Forge TIP's - and also log the intake temps on & off the dyno.

We have seen intake temps vary up to 40 deg C at the manifold and about 10 - 15 degrees of that is caused by the air intake itself.

If it really does provide cold air, improves intake temps and increases flow (as the data logging shows) you should be able to sell heaps.

We messed with 3 different intake paths on the BMC setup and had to feed to the front grill as the only practical volume site for cold air (mainly thanks to the electric power steering blocking the ideal path below the headlight)- when we sited it behind the battery it actually increased temps about 15 degrees C & bought on heatsoak in about 15 minutes of city driving.
