OK I'm just checking with the company that the 3.12kg shipping weight for the 'set' is for the 2 mounts and 2 bearings... and not just 1 of each. this could change our order if it is.

    So far we have:
    [-polo gti-]
    vagman
    jasn78
    noone
    Servo
    Gti Dave

i'm hoping that 3.12kg weight is for the full required set so we could fit another person in.

I'll let you know how it goes.

please also keep in mind you guys from the south, that the items will be delivered to myself, so you will be required to pay for postage to your location. I calculated it to be $13.80 from the australia post website (assuming each package is between 3-4kg).

still cheaper than the ~$200 you'd pay your friendly VW stealer.

well i, and others here, have had theirs checked and it appears the strut mount bearing have give way. i don't know really that much about it but my 'top mounts' are gone as well. several people with the same lowering job done and have the same problems following. i've also had my cv joints checked and it's not that.

    Food for thought.

I have been having some noise concerns since my recent works:
    Audi TT front brakes
    Whiteline Control arm rear bushes
    Whiteline front sway
    Coilovers.

When the new suspension was put in, I already had the Ford Mondeo droplinks. These were used but connected to the sway on the hard setting.

One of the noises was a soft rubbing or bumping sound.

When I put the factory droplinks back on, I noticed they moved more freely than the Mondeo ones. I also noticed that the new sway bar sat very close to the plastic wheel arch lining. It would not have taken much movement for the sway or nut of the droplink to have brushed against this.

This aspect of my noise issues has been resolved (or so it would appear for the time). If you have Mondeo droplinks, I'd try using the stock ones or look at different aftermarket ones as the Mondeo's don't seem to be a great replacement.

Ive posted somewhere here already about the front sways. Couple of things check and see if the stopper on the sway has moved, this lets the sway move left to right etc and hits the alloy consoles that house the control arm bushes. Also when you have the control arm bushes done the alloy consoles can be adjusted away from the sway or at least put them back to the witness marks. Ive now seen 2 whiteline sways that have been moving around a fair bit and marking the consoles.
best check the stoppers first mate. There is not much room between the consoles and the thicker sways
    Cheers

Is the considerably premature wear of these topmounts due to lowering the car, bad quality OE parts or something else???

Something else being poor install of the springs or struts, driving style/environment??

ok I've heard back from teiledirekt and confirmed the 3.12kg is for 2 mounts and 2 bearings. I've just sent an e-mail back saying I require 14 mounts and 14 bearings (just under the 25kg limit) and to provide a total cost including shipping.

Once i get this cost, I will post it up and pm my bank details to the people in this group buy.

I have 7 people on the order which will be enough for this purchase.

Please have trust in me with this order. Last time I headed one of these group buys, I ended up about $45 down thanks to paypals crap exchange rates. I usually use xe.com/ucc which is very accurate, but not the same as paypal. So if I ask for a few dollars more than what you may personally work it out at, this is why.

    Cheers all,
    Rhys

Yeah PAYPAL sucks in terms if you are the one on the receiving end of the cash as you get stung heaps. Been there and done that. Also exchange rates are typically 2 cents lower (I know this because I ordered something for my macbook from the US yesterday).
