I think you are pretty safe in a polo cops don't notice them... even if you put 20" blinged out chromies on them.... though if you did do that then you would probably have to watch out for other dub owners trying to run you off the road for your terrible terrible taste.

dont think you would have to worry with a polo.

you need to be careful in calculating the offsets on wheels. with the info off your orig wheels... width and offset you can calculate how much movement there is with the new wheel size and offset.
ie just coz your orig wheels are +35 offset does not mean any wheel with an offset of +35 will fit... width of wheel has to be taken into account.

google a wheel offset calculator and it will tell you how much the location of the wheel changes. Measure up against your car. If you have the space, ou are fine. Although if there is a small margin for error, tyres will come into it.

Interesting. When I got my Jestalts from Ozzy here in Newy, they drilled the right PCD into them, and got the right width/offset for my car. Why can't tempe esentially do "custom" fittings for your polo?

    Here you go.
Standard GTI (i think its a GTI) would be what, 16x6.5 with the ET of 35.
Im thinking your new wheels would be 17x7.5 at ET45. Diameter isn't important here.

    Plug into this
    http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp

Inner Clearance: 23mm LESS (the inside of the wheel to the strut housing)
Outer Position: Extend an Extra 3mm (position of the outside edge of the wheel)

Hope that helps. Do it yourself. My specs on your reps may be wrong....
