Zoom in on Melbourne, there are 2.

I can vouch for the service of APR (at least in Brisbane, Guy and Alex are tops!) and have heard good things about Volkspower.

Thanks Tosspot... no aussie site and there info didn't fill me with confidence so going to go with APR... okay one last question how long in advance did people book to get it done just want an estimate seeing as no point in me ringing, seeing as I don't have a firm date on when I'll get my car.

It takes about 10 minutes, so you probably don't have to book in at all. Might want to check with your local dealer though.

Actually there is now way of telling whether it requires a security code. No blinks of lights on the dash or anything. Unless you enter the security code (through the cruise control) in exactly the correct order, the cruise control does not respond to map change requests at all. It is as if the car is not chipped at all.

Once the map is locked, you can press away at the cruise control button and nothing happens (no flashing lights, nothing) untill it is properly unlocked.

    Ask Guy for an explanation.

APR Australia announced a sale last night so for this month when you purchase your Polo GTI software for $190 you not only get the two programs standard, you also get:

    • Security (stops anyone accessing the switching)
    • Anti Theft (can not take the car even when the keys are in it)
    • Throttle body align
    • Fault code erase

& 4 engine programs of your choice from:

    • Stock
    • 95 Ron
    • 98 Ron
    • 104 Ron (RACE GAS)
    • Valet mode.

Volkspower can install a free trial for you & put you in touch with some of the Polo owners if you wish.

The APR is recorded to the vehicles VIN number, so if reflashed by a dealer, its installed for free at your local APR dealer.

Security mode wont allow access to the programs unless a valid PIN number is entered into the cruise control firstly, so there is absolutely no sign of APR in the car when this is used!
