APR Tuned Exhaust or FMIC?

Are there any legal issues involved when changing intercooler/exhaust? A couple of friends of mine with jap cars have had issues in the past with the police because they have both intake and exhaust mods (which required them changing parts back to stock before getting EPA tested). Based off what they told me I believe in vic you are allowed one intake mod, or one exhaust mod, but not both at the same time.

If the APR parts are ADR approved does this then mean there are no issues with the police/EPA? The APR website mentions the downpipe/exhaust have ADR approval but there isn't mention of it on the intercooler page.

If this is the case then that would possibly be justification for paying the extra money for the APR parts (i'm no mechanic so don't want to be changing parts back to stock to get EPA tested).

my guess is that if anything, adding the intercooler would aid combustion, meaning less emissions.

Sorry, fitting price is not included on any of our parts listed (other than engine software).

ADR's (generally speaking) do not apply to replacement parts such as intercoolers, intakes etc.

Where you will find applicable laws is state by state.

Remember if you own a car legally registered in Canberra, and you cross into NSW - that car could be completely illegal, so you always have to check with your local Authorities.

In QLD it is looked after by the Department of Transport & enforced by the Police. The Police will give a "defect" notice & then the vehicle will have to be inspected by "QLD Transport".

There are Australian Standards that apply to different products, a big one is exhausts (Where the standard used as the guide is the ADR 83 which will be introduced next year for "signature noise levels" - The new Golf V RSC APR exhaust was designed specifically around these levels - of course we have to meet the emission ADR as well & we work hard to make sure they are all legal.
