    APR Program... for everyday use??

    Hi,

I have a GTI Polo with APR program installed..

Yes it goes better with the APR but I drive my GTi to work and also on the weekend.. It is an everyday drive..

Is the APR program safe to run 24/7?? Is it better to run the standard program 80% of the time and switch to APR on the weekends only? Which program has better fuel economy?

Mine has been APR chipped for nearly 2 years ... never turned off. It's more than safe ... it's ESSENTIAL. The APR 98 octane program will give you better fuel economy than standard ... providing you are not thrashing it everywhere.

Im happy to leave mine on chipped but worried about wear n tear..

I really like my Polo GTi, dont want it to give up the ghost prematurely...

The extra boost would have to put more wear on the internals??

I wouldn't even think of turning it off

The boost is only about 1bar with the tune so it's not real high anyway. Fuel economy is better with the chip too... BONUS!

    as said ^^^^^
have had my jetta chipped for a few months now... thought i would turn it off when not needed and turn on for a fun drive etc... turns out i have never turned it off though... dont feel i need to. returns better fuel economy with it on and using as a daily/family car anyway.

Once I have put a few k's on mine, I will be looking at the APR chip. The only real concern I have with it is to do with warranty. Will fitting the chip void the Volkswagen warranty?

    Search...

Only if they can prove it was the chips fault.

If you're worried, pay the extra for Oettinger. It's the same tune with a warranty.

what about everyday driving... does everyone keep the apr tune in...

Over say 50,000km would that mean more wear n tear?

I love the power but not wanting anything to go boom 5 minutes after the warranty ends.. VW arnt the cheapest cars to get parts for..

look mate, the amount of R&D that has gone into the APR programme is massive, its not just a wind up the wick programme that turns your engine into a hand grenade, im more than certain that the amount of crap that APR would have put their R&D engines through to try and break them in order to find the limits of a reliability and longevity will far outweigh any punishment your ever going to put it through on the daily commute

so keep the programme on and keep the smiles happening Im sure as hell going to keep my programme on permanently, cos after driving back to back with stock, the difference is monumental!
