Anyone running or run 215/45R16 on standard rims and standard susp?

Hi guys and gals, I have searched for the following as best I can, but to no avail,

Can anyone tell me if they have successfully run 215/45R16 on standard Polo GTI rims and Suspension? I am interested in particular in the KU-36s but do not want to upgrade rims or sup at this point.

You will have no problems running that tyre size on the standard rim Its only 10mm wider than a 205...

Can you source KU36's at present? A few people are chasing them but there doesn't seem to be any around. I'll be grabbing a set in the next couple of months if I can source em.

They seem to only do 2 sizes in the 16's, 215 45 being on of them.

I've got brand new KU36's (215/45/17) which were wrapped on my new set of rims but have not been used. I've ordered springs and if all goes well regarding height etc, I'll keep them. If not, I'll be selling due to my suspension setup. I'll know by Wednesday. If anyone wants them, more than happy to discuss.

OP: 215/45/16 will be fine on standard setup.

I have not yet confirmed a source for them, as I have not decided on them yet. My other option is to purchase from O/S a set of the continental extreme contact DW which get very high reviews. These seem not to be sold in Aust yet, I was told the are a winter/snow tyre, however I believe that the DW is a summer and the extreme contact DWS is the winter/snow. The argument between each is normal, reviews suggest that the DW have much better wet and very good dry traction, the KUs have better dry traction and turn response with problems with wet traction... Will post in the tyre thread once I get one or the other!

P.S the rolling distance difference is about 1.5%, which would bring my speedo closer to accurate, its currently ~9% slow (using GPS as a reference) so I don't mind. I lean where my real speeds are over time, its the advantage of a GPS.
What I find fascinating is that my trip computer, speed averages and odometer are all accurate with my GPS, despite the fact that my speedo is not! This suggests to me that the error in my speedo is deliberate! (food for thought!)

i always thought it was deliberate that the speedo was a bit slow. against my gps, 60kph on the speedo is about 56/57 on the gps.

Yea my old VH SLE was inaccurate to about 7% but everything was, trip computer, odometer, and the speedo (they all ran off a cable from the drive side of the trans) But with the Polo GTI I have found that the speedo is the only inaccurate one, where as the other parts are pretty spot on! I've found by using GPS or those big speed testers on the highway, that the error % is pretty steady in the same car from time to time as long as you use the same tyre pressures. This means that I have always been able to learn (which was what I tried to say earlier) where the right speeds were, GPS is great for this! Then you just drive where it should be!
