Doesn't the Maclaren have a CF tub and aluminium body?

And I said ILLEGAL CF bonnet.
It's all fine if the car manufacturer has designed and built a crash reg compliant CF bonnet. I VERY much doubt some aftermarket CF bonnet would be compliant.

Alternatively, people have painted their CF Bonnet so no one would know it is an illegal CF bonnet.

The weight loss and cost benefit is just not worth it though for a 10kg saving.
Remove spare tyre and other non essentials and run a half tank of fuel to save more weight and costs nothing.
There are no ADR approved CF bonnets, there is one place that sells ADR approved Fibreglass bonnets but they weigh up there anyway.

If you are looking at it as an asthetic mod then the weight reduction isn't really an issue. However if you have removed weight already and are down to these options then it is a fantastic way to lose weight. It can be painted factory colour and no one would ever know until they opened the hood. Cost wise it isn't too bad. We would produce them for around the $850 region for a complete CF bonnet not FG with a CF overlay. + Shipping on top of that price.

Lighter brakes would be the next good unsprung weight improvement!
Cost wise they aren't too bad but they are all illegal, making sales would be nice but I am not going to lie to people about it

Lighter brakes are quite a hefty expense for most people as I assume most people would go for that as part of a big brake kit.

Agreed with this, fantastic way to do it but as I said above matched with carbon work it can provide even better gains.

V8 supercars as far as I am aware, there are also numerous time attack cars that use large amounts of carbon fibre.

We don't presently have a mould for the Polo or most of the other VW models but if we had interest from 3-5 people we would be willing to look at producing the items.
