I'm in QLD but will definately investigate with Dept of transport.
Thanks for the suggestion! A TSI would be a great option for her.
Hey mate,
Im not sure what state your in, but I know in Victoria at least, they have changed the rules for small capacity engines with turbo chargers.
They used to be illegal if you are on your P's. But alot of the car manufactures have been able to get the laws changed so that cars with superchargers and turbochargers bolted to small capacity engines are still able to be driven by P platers.
So it might be worth investigating what the go in your state is, alot has changed over the past year.
Alot of this started when the new Golf lineup came in with the 1.4L Twin Chargers engine, which can now be driven by P platers in Vic.

Shame they aren't bringing the bluemotion in, I would have def gone and bought a 3 door manual. Oh well I'll stick to my s3.
Hey, i work for VW here in melbourne and i just came back from training in sydney for this new polo.
This new Polo seems very good, nothing on it seems to be over engineered or useless. Its an all round great little car. Like the last 15 years of all the good ideas that VW had, packed into one little car!
That being said, its not even little, its the same size as a mk3 golf!
Very much lookin forward to working on these, everything ive learnt about them says they are going to be very reliable so i cant really think of much that could go wrong with them.
The choice of engines (and gear boxes for that matter) is great too, the TSI and the TDI are very well matched to each other fuel economy and drivablility wise, especially with the 7 speed DSG.
This training session has made me think twice about my next car even though thatll be years away!
im a bit jealous of anyone who gets one
