Anyone had their Pog serviced by Chatties Classic Cars?

Just booked my car in for the 15kkm service at Chatties Classic where I bought the car, just wondering if you've had any experience with them?

I skipped the 7500km service and changed the oil and rotated the tyres myself.

When I had the MX5, Mazda always tried to slug me with windscreen washer fluid refills, tyre rotations etc despite me having already done that. I'm just hoping VW doesn't try this on me.

Also - I have a front strut bar which is a pain to take off and reinstall (shocks would move away from the bolt holes), would the dealer not bother to check the air filter because that involves removing the strut bar?

    Cheers

You dont need to remove the strut bar mate, you can remove the whole box complete. Done one recently whilst removing a gearbox, strut bar stayed where it is, just got to watch you retrieve the mount rubber, seen plenty of them floating around the engine bay.

    15k service

    Mate,
Dealer service at 15k will be oil filter, oil, top up fluids which include washer fluid and fuel treatment, check tyre pressures, check codes, reset service light and a thrash around the block by apprentice. Sorry but thats how dealers make there money, all up around 1.5hours work and if your lucky it might be washed and vacuumed?? Ask for Steve Notoli he's a tech there, tell him I sent you and you'll get looked after I hope?? I live in Killara so if you have any other problems don't hesistate to contact me, I have access to VW VAS diagnostic machine.

Thanks Joe! I'm on the North Shore too - just hope they don't get too touchy about mods, only a strut bar, RSB and a boost gauge for now so shouldn't be an issue but thinking about getting it chipped after the service.

I had my car in there this week to correct service light.

They were friendly and nice people.

Unfortunately when I got the vehicle back, it had a rattle.

Maybe its time for a Nth Shore Convention...

    Hey guys,

I was going to go there but I just use Midas at Chatswood. If the car is standard it's pretty cheap to get it done there. Just use mobil 1 which is an option and you're fine.

I still have to take mine back to Chatswood Classic to get them to look at a rattle that no other mechanic has been able to find (we think it's actually a tack weld come loose as it happens only when the car flexes (rather than just straight up bumps that cause it))

Personally, I would only let a VW specialist or a dealer touch the car, especially under warranty period, but thats my opinion and its your car. Also, which Mobil 1 did you use? Pretty sure it has to be 0w40 (you may very well have just making sure)

I dont know why you would go to a stealer, they are so over priced and do things you don't even request to be done.

Northern Side you have Derek @ European Autotek
Eastern Side you have Jade Auto @ Rosebery
InnerWest/West you have Seb @ Euro Automotive
South West Syd you have Matt @ Camden GTI

Thats who i would recommend you take your car to, definitely a specialist and NEVER midas or ultratune.. im sure everybody could give you stories about those guys!
    What’s behind you doesn’t matter..

Couldn't agree more, lucky for me I do my own. Always have, the only time I would visit a stealer is for warranty issues, as long as it's an licensed MTA repairer your warranty is not void.
