The standard cat is quite restrictive. Using it with enlarged entries will get around a possible check engine light, but still be restrictive as far as flow through it goes.

In Brisbane, a stainless downpipe and highflow quality stainless cat can be fitted for around $650 including labour.

Rest of the exhaust in stainless with high flow stainless rear muffler (not cannon) can be completed for around $400, so all up less than $1100 for a full stainless system .... fitted.

Remember APR is $1195 for the downpipe + fitment .... (not a bad product, but pricey)

You dont need to change the factory cat, just only have to enlarge the entry and exit. This will also stop any fault codes from popping up.

Name? Phone number? And will it fit in an express post envelope?

    why bother with stainless steal....

Mild steal is heaps cheaper and does nearly the same job.

EDIT: I suppose i forgot a key fact to my post. The stainless steal at exhaust shops isnt marine grade. It WILL rust.

..not to mention that with a 3" DP, you'll lose all your torque (not gain).

does anyone know how would a 2.5" downpipe with a 3" catback perform?

Its probably better to go the other way around 3' dump and 2.5' cat back. As the exhaust gases flow through the length of the exhaust system it cools down.
Heat expands and cold contracts, so the hottest part of the exhaust, being right after the turbo, is where you would want the larger diameter pipe.
