The Update
Well a fair amount of time has passed since my first post on this topic. I now have an update and closure of some sort.
Still to this day DENLO GROUP PARRAMATTA has not accepted liability for the fire and after doing everything I could without legal action I was forced to make a claim through my insurer to get things going, if I hadnt my car would still be sitting at Denlo.
After about 4 weeks I had a call from Denlo's public liability assessor and he mentioned that it would take another 4-6 weeks to get a fire assessor to look at the car and determine the cause.
I couldnt afford to wait this amount of time without a car so I made a claim with AAMI and upon picking up the car they wrote it off as a total loss on the spot.
AAMI's assessor stated in his report that the fire looked to start around the battery / engine area maybe due to a fuel leak but could not confirm an exact cause.
AAMI were great and I was paid my agreed value within two weeks and now AAMI will chase Denlo for the costs.
I now have a black Polo GTI which I bought privately. Its great owning a Polo again but unfortunately this fiasco has cost me personally close to $3,000.
Peace Out
Colin
