Sorry to hear of your misfortune. You are obviously not insured through Shannons.

Our old Type III sedan burnt, Shannons paid the agreed amount, refunded the towing fee AND I got to keep the car, which was sold for another $500.

Anyway, I hope it all works out well for you.

what about fire damage which is a direct consequence of a mechanical fault? surely that should be covered by warranty?

Id be checking your insurance PDS mate, im surprised that is not covered. Sound like an oily rag has been left under there or a line has been ruptured when changin the Gbox, there is no excuse there mate its on the delearship to come good for that and that their insurance then.
Keep us posted , thats sickening. I recently heard of a SAAB being serviced in a place which i cannot name , but it made it 200ks and fire started in engine bay, service manual was left on top of the engine!!!!!!! Great quality check done there.
Sorry to hear - very much hope the outcome is good

that's such a shame, as was said earlier, talk to the boss & don't get emotional, just stand your ground & I'm sure that you'll get the right result.

God I'm glad I found my fuel leak 2 weeks ago or we could be drowning our sorrows together!

My insurance company wont cover it because its from a mechanical fault.

I had an Escort many years ago - went up in flames on the front garden as i was trying to start it. The insurance company fully payed for it. how can your insurance co. say it was from a mechanical fault? I presume they wouldnt even had time to assess the damage yet, let alone determined the cause.
