More likely the SAI pump failing. The turbo bolts is noticeable on boost.
How does it run once the choke / warmup is over?
Hi all,
Just got my car back a few days from VW on the battery harness replacement, and now my car wheezes and whistle during morning/cold starts. It will go away in about a minute or so but it's worrying.
Here is a YouTube video of it - took it this morning.
I wonder whether it's related to the loose turbo bolts mentioned elsewhere in this board.
If you have any opinions or suggestions, I would appreciate it.

Hey,
Ive got a simlar problem, took it to vw essendon for a sertvice and told the guy and he was like that normal during winter....is he just talking bull...
It can do it any time of year. Some pumps are noisier than others.
Mine is starting to do the same. More of a whine/whurr but still pretty concerning considering i recently spent $1000 getting it fully serviced and minor fixes done.
Any help/suggestions as to what it could be would be great
I have a SAI combi valve and pump with 45,000 Km's on it. Happy to part with it for reasonable coin.
You can unplug the pump before starting the car to make sure it's the pump and remove the vac line to the combi valve (and plug it) to make sure this is the faulty component.
Hi all,
Quick update. It was the faulty SAI pump and it was replaced by VW Osborne Park under extended warranty. I sneaked a peak and the part cost was $700+. A few more of these kind of fixes and I'll make back my money I guess... (not that I want it to break down again).
On a side note, the highest grade of extended warranty is not equal to new car warranty. They refuse to replace my wing mirror which flew off during a drive. The adhesive failed and the mirror just detached from the back plating. Costed me $120+ to replace out of pocket.
