9N3 GTI - Recall for Ignition Coil packs

Recall: 28F5 - Fit 4 x Coil Packs. Part No. VW06A905115D

Seems to be 05-07 builds from my snooping around the net and affects Polo GTI, Passat V6, Golf GTI, R32 etc...

Good post! I didn't know about it and gave my local VW Dealership a call. They have booked my car in for the replacement part on Tuesday! Better to be safe than finding a problem later onwards.

Interesting - must be why I've had to replace 3 of my coil packs so far (at my own expense). I don't take the Polo to an official dealer for service so I'd have never known the original packs were recalled if not for this thread.

Given that this is a known issue with a VW campaign, and if you fixed the issue before the notification of the campaign, I wonder if you can get VW to refund you?

I don't use a dealership for service either, so difficult to know of any other campaigns. I wonder what other campaigns there may be for the car? Going to ask the dealership if there is anything outstanding.

I rang Garry Cricks at Maroochydore (local VW dealer). They advised that yes my car has a recall on it. I booked it in as advised and was told that the appointment would be to inspect the numbers on the car and the coil packs. If it is ok they will order the parts in and then I will have to take it back to get them fitted. My wife and I both work so it is a pain in the bum to get the car there. Earliest we can get it there is Monday week. Then I might have to take it back again! I am not impressed.

Take it there for them to inspect the part numbers? Its a 2006, like mine, chances are they will need to be replaced...

I'd try to speak to someone different and ask why they can't have the parts ready given its <10 min to change them.

I've not heard of any issues with the original ones, its more of a precaution, so don't fret over it...

Had mine replaced on Friday, even got a free First Aid Kit from Barloworld.

I would call up your dealer and read them the part numbers from the coils, that is all they would be doing. I think any coil that is not an 'L' type is replaced
