That was a good read. Thanks for sharing.

I'm quite happy with the stock setup for lighting. Only I wish the high beams had a bit more spread, very narrow. Is this something that can be fixed with a bulb or is due to the design of the reflectors?

Better globes may help a bit (more light everywhere, including spread). It was certainly worth doing on my Transporter (H4 globes).

The focus/spread is mostly down to the optics of the reflector and fluting (if any) on the lens. Globes are all supposed to have their filaments in exactly the same spot.

Has anyone had experience of different brands of headlights in a 2008 Polo (ie was the beam much different to the OEM headlights) ?

A word of warning for anyone changing lights, I was defected last week for blue parkers.

I bought PIAA headlight globes on eBay last year and they came with LED parkers to match. AT least they were supposed to match - my globes are white with a slight blue tinge, but the parkers were blue. Had them on for almost a year with no worries, but was pulled over for a breathtest last week and was defected, thankfully no fine.

Changed them to standard globes but I want to get some white LED ones eventually.

I've also changed all my interior globes and licence plate lights to LEDs - most off eBay. With the licence plate ones, I found regular LED globes blew my fuses - had to buy the whole unit, see here as an example: VW Polo 9N3 9N 6N2 18 SMD NUMBER PLATE LEDS | eBay

Can someone please confirm the globes used for the rear tail lights? For example, when I turn the ignition and light switch on, the rear-left light lights up red, but the rear-right doesn't.

However, when I step on the brake pedal, both left and right rear brake lights work.

    I hope that made sense.

Pretty sure there are two tail light bulbs in each tail light.

Yes there are. But for some reason, only the rear left lights up. But when I hit the brake pedal, both light up.

    Someone??

The rear right bulb that switches on with the headlights has blown then. One bulb is for the brake light, the other lights up with the headlights.

Okay no problem. Anyone know the part number while I'm at work now? I'll look at the part in the manual book when I get home. Cheers
