    42dd shifter cable bushings

I purchased a set of these 42 Draft Designs shifter bushings and managed to fit the front/back endlink without any trouble. Shift feel is pretty awesome combined with the verdict motorsport bushings I have already.

But I'm having trouble removing the side/side endlink off of the black plastic pin holding it in place. It doesn't have the metal retaining clip like the front/back endlink; instead it's held on by a little raised plastic part on the pin which I've tried to push down with pliers which doesn't work. Can anyone help me?

    Cheers

EDIT: Never mind guys, didn't read the part on how VW introduced the plastic bracket for the side/side linkage. I need to drill...

Me is interested in these, so which kit did you get, I'm assuming the Mk4 one.

Yeah I did get the Mk4 ones, the front/back bushing fits perfectly but the side/side bushing needs a bit of work as the side/side bracket is plastic and the bushing can't be removed without damaging the pin (I didn't end up putting it in).

If you have a read of the site and scroll down to the Mk5 5 speed, they talk about this annoying plastic bracket and how you can make it work.

Quite keen too. Mine is 05/06 version, wondering if I should be ordering MKIV one. Both round bushings? Verdict is already in, I could do with more positive throws!!
    How much was the shipping?

About ten bucks if my memory serves me correct....

Both are round bushings, I'm pretty certain the Mk4 ones fit perfectly, the only problem being the plastic side/side bracket on my car (which may or may not be on yours) that prevents me getting out the side/side bushing.

I'm gonna take some photos this weekend of the bracket and email it to them and see what they say.

I can see this would add extra to verdict bushings. One question is though, would the Forge shifter fit!!!?? some are saying that it would definitely fit... and that would make a huge difference on top of these... my Forge distributor is sure, and is willing to do a trial fit, but I would rather know for sure before I go there to waste my and their time.

Ordered my sets of 42 design bushings. $10 delivery price, hope it arrives next week sometime.

ef9: I haven't had time to go and try it out, the link you have sent is the correct model that my dealer reckons it will fit. He seems pretty confident, and as he is from UK he had checked out with 5 Polo GTIs (in UK) that have fitted these with no problems. The dealer is about 30 mins away and I didn't want to waste my or his time, so emailed Forge, but haven't had any replies so far.

I would definitely jump on it, IF it works on my car. The car is nice, just the gearbox overall lets it down.

i had mine put in 2 days ago and i can definitely feel a difference. if you do normal driving, it won't feel very different but try quick flicks / gear changes and you will see that they slot in a lot more accurately than before especially from 1st to 2nd. there is less hesitation as a result.

btw, i have also changed the pendulum mount bushing so that might make a difference too.
