    4 Years a go today ...

4 years a go I went to pick up my GTI from VW @ Hornsby. Driving it home to Narellan (south west sydney) it was the longest stint in a manual and so I managed to stall it about 3-4 times along Pennant Hills Rd. When I got it home, it read 100km

This was day 2 of ownership tagging along with 10-15 MINI on a drive of Putty Road. Towards the end of the day I was at the bottom of Galston Gorge with km to empty reading 0, we had slow traffic going up the gorge and 10 MINI's behind me and me thinking 'please god dont let me run out of petrol here'. I didn't and there was a petrol station close to the top.

Few weeks later did a Jenolan caves & Bathurst run.

My first ever track day at the kiddie pool

Skidpan day @ Eastern creek with clubMINI.

A skidpan day @ Sutton Driver training with the VW Canberra crowd

Catching up with some Canberra folk along the famed Brindabella road.

Liam and I at Tooma Damm on a Snowy Mnts weekend March 2007.

    Near Khancoban

    Above Thredbo Village on a different Snowys Weekend. 2 x Polo GTI's, 1 x Civic Type R & a Cooper S Cab.

German Auto Fest 2006 in Canberra

I've had a blast everyday & I've met so many great people. I never thought buying a car would have added to my list of friends. When I got to work this morning the odo read 142,496km. Currently I think I need new shocks, new radiator, my hatch release still wont open, new CV joints and new top mount bushes and I gotta purchase my 5th set of tyres. Bit of a money pit, but I hope I never have to part with this car.

    nice one, mate!

despite what i say about wanting a new polo tdi, you gotta love the journey you take with these cars.

after my last drive from melbourne to sydney, in which flooding had washed gravel and tree logs onto the road, and it was pissing down, with constant aquaplaning, etc etc, arriving in one piece in sydney and letting the car cool down, i felt a real connection with the car and just how loyal and protective [fruity as that sounds] she's been. the pog's never ever let me down.

It was about this time 4 years ago I bought mine . Picked it up at the start of May. You've done about twice as many k's as me though... It's the longest I've ever owned a car and I'll keep it for another year or two yet. Great little cars.

Mine's just about to click over 9K. I have to hold myself back on some things as not to void my warranty but I'm sure I already have. However I'm just starting on my journey, hope it will be just as fulfilling as yours.

    Hey Floody!
Nice ride! I wanted one in White too, but to get my leather and price I had to settle for silver (which I like just as much) Looks like you have taken full advantage of the little beast, Can I ask you, how often it has been tracked and skid panned, and how well it has held up to this? I have thought about doing some of these things to get a better handle on the car and improve my driving skills but being my first 'new' car I am a bit tentative.

    Cheers!

Thats a great log of some places youve been and things you've done with the Pog.

    Hopefully another 140 in her!

    Hey Floody,

it's been a while mate. My MINI is now coming up for it's 5th birthday and we're waiting now for out MkVI GTI... It'll be red of course!

We've been living in Sydney for two years.

Glad to know you're still in love with your Polo... It was great that you hung around the MINI riff raff mate..

Hope to catch up one of these days..
