    4 Year Service Costs

    Hi all

Just had my 4 year service today at a dealer in Melbourne. I rang first for an estimate, they said around $900 because all the filters and spark plugs needed replacing. When I got the bill it was $900 exactly. Funny that.

They also tried for the following:
    - wiper blades $130 (no thanks I have just replaced them)
    - air con service $250 (no thanks, emphasis on con)
    - injector clean $250 (no thanks, the $30 of additives on the bill is enough)
...and a few other unecessary items

If there was an independent mechanic bayside they would have my business for sure.

The car has done just over 40,000k's.....spent nothing other than standard servicing costs in the first three years, if they had a new model GTI available I would be driving it out of the showroom today, but now it seems like a good idea to try another brand for a while.

    - new radiator for $900 (no thanks, I have put in half a litre over the past 2 years)
    - new coolant bottle for $300 (no thanks, how about a new hose/clip instead)
    - v belt, pulleys, water pump for $1500 (no thanks, will do it next year)
    - discs and pads were left for next time !!

How comes? Did you get your car serviced at all?

I'd be taking it to another mechanic.... those prices are highway robbery (For belts/pulleys and a water pump fitted I paid just below 1/3 of the $1500 they quoted!)

Use this site to check rough price ranges for services..
Car Servicing Cost & Price Guide - carservice.com.au

    Very handy.

Just as a guide - my local VW dealer quoted $510 for a 2nd year/30,000km service. Ended up booking with Ultratune for $300..

    - Manual - Sunroof - Folding Mirrors - Lock/Unlock Chirp - 4x Indicator Flash - Traffic - MK7.5 LED Tail Lights with Sweeping Indicators - Dynablink Sweeping mirror LEDs - White LED's on rear rego plate -

Can I ask where? Might sway me to keep the Pog a little longer if I don't need to fork out so much in maintenance

    Hi there guys,

Just reading this as my Polo is going in for its 60k service next week. thank god i checked VWW!!!

They quoted my $1000 (mcgrath liverpool) and I knew that was overs so was going to do the ring around on Monday. Now I know what I can go after thanks to that little carservice quote site and start probing the various dealers for a better price.

I got my 60k service done by VW Penrith for $400. Mind you, I supplied the oil filter and brake fluid.

I had my 4 year - 90k service from volkspower in victoria and i was charged $600 or around $620 from memory. Which was much better than i would have got from the dealers. I didnt supply anything, they changed all the wipers aswell.
