You have to remember that the 1.8T engine is cabaple of 250kw without serious internal work. (1 of the reasons I bought the car)

If you do extensive internal work the sky can literally be the limit. I have seen (on a VW Dyno day) a 1.8t in a Mk1 Golf make 356kw at the wheels with the help of internal work, a big turbo and a bit of NOS...... (and that was at 1800m above sea level in thin air)

Even APR advertises 260kw as their upper limit for the Polo GTI without internal work.... merely a stage III+ kit......

Whether you can actually use that much power is an altogether different story ......

Sorry to bring up an old thread but wanted to ask a question without starting a whole new thread, this thread fits anyway.

Okay so was reading through my old Motor Mags and spotted the APR ad for the polo... what does the stage 3 consist of? just the FMIC, Exhuast and the K04 and that hits 260kw? (plus retune obviously) sorry stupid question just can't find any info on their site.

I'd be interested to know what it consists of also. Has anyone done it yet? What sort of costs?
    Cheers,

Pretty sure its a GT28 upgrade with new exhaust manifold, injectors etc etc etc. It is a pretty major upgrade ........

I personally don't believe its worth it on a Polo. (both the cost and the power) Rather buy a Golf and do a S3 upgrade for 230kw. 2nd hand Golfs (05/06 models) are now hitting low $30Ks, even a few with low milage for under $30K. You'll have a much better platform to work with.

Dads 12/05 with 22000 on the clock was valued at 25 at the delaer if that weighs into it.

Does the "narrowness" of the Pogo play into how it gets its power down/stability? Am asking as throwing another 100HP at it would only make it worse..?

Sure would, largest tyre you can get on is 215 and only just.

The only reason I ask is that I've already got the Polo so I'd like to know what the max cost for massive power would be. If it ends up costing $15k well it's still pretty good considering the base platform was $28k so $43k all up for an absolute monster. I've seen pricing for the stage2 S3 upgrade at $8995 so I'd assume that the stage 2 Polo upgrade would cost about the same, but can't find any pricing for stage 3.

The traction issues come down to so many variables ie. Suspension, Type and size of tyre (although I agree 215's don't help the issue), Camber the list goes on and on but also the main factor is how heavy your right foot is
    Cheers,

    John
