Send a letter of complaint to management of the dealer you took it too, and send a letter to VW Australia complaining about the standard of service.
just had my TDI serviced.$800 bucks and they only had it for 5 hours. They told me i needed new tyres,i told them i didnt.I got it home and the air filter was floating around in the breeze. Its going to my local mechanic now.Atleast i know he will do a good job and it will cost a quarter of the price.

Yea I wouldn't take that one lying down!!
i hav similar exp. with my dealer.
they couldnt bother to put back speaker mount after it was removed.
excuse was...running out of time...
i had a huge complaint to the manager, but i meant what can he do?
in conclusion, dealer doesnt mean quality services.
No one should have to put up with poor quality service from any dealer. There is no excuse for not finishing any job. Make a scene in front of the management, or write a nastygram to management. At the end of the day, we spent out hard earned cash on the cars we wanted, and the money to service them...If you arn't happy with the work, don't pay, take photos of what you arn't happy with, and talk to someone who will listen.
Head back there @ 8am when everyone else is dropping off their cars and make a loud noise about their INattention to detail, work incomplete. Methinks they'll sort it ASAP.
put up a few signs out the front stating the poor quality of service, possibly assisted by yourself on a megaphone for several hours (on a saturday when people are car hunting and sales ppl are all over the place). also on the signs put down another mechanics number to refer people to. im sure VW would help you out then !!
