Seriously, this sucks. I would be having a very serious and earnest discussion with the Service Manager and, if not satisfied, the Dealer Principal, followed by a letter to VWA.
Leaving aside the original cause, your problem has arisen due to negligent service by an untrained person. They should have rectified that immediately, and they fact they haven't suggests to me the guy may have damaged the studs or something. Have it thoroughly checked out.
