2009 1600 9N3 Tappet Ticking

We have a 2009 9N3 with the 1600 petrol engine and 6 speed DSG gearbox.

The engine has an intermittent ticking sound in the top of the engine that sounds like a loose tappet.

The sound is not always there but is there most of the time.

Any thoughts as to what is going on here and the remedy?

I assume the tappets are hydraulic on these engines. The manual I have doesn't cover this engine.

Is there an online manual somewhere?
