Price? I'm going to be doing fronts soon.
Hi All ,
Just wanted to share some info in regards to the disc brake upgrade I'm doing on my 2007 Polo.
I search the forum and read many many threads about this , the info was great but with so many options all I did was end up confused
So I took the advise and rang GSL Motorsport and put it to them, Very friendly and helpful staff , we sorted the gear straight out. I told them I will eventually be doing a phase 2 upgrade and wanted to upgrade the brakes all round before I did this, I also told them it was for street purposes only (I may take it to the track one day) and I wanted reliability as a daily driver.
We decided on the same size discs as stock but slotted, they recommended Aussie made DBA over the RDA range so I went with them
Here's a list of what I got for anyone looking to do this mod to their brakes,
DBA Street Series T2 Slotted Brake Rotors - DBA802S - ID:135115
DBA Street Series T2 Slotted Brake Rotors - DBA803S - ID:134116
Remsa Brake Pads - 0775.01 - ID:124537
QFM HPX Brake Pads - DB1192HPX - ID:134760
They kindly threw in some ATE Brake fluid as well and free shipping
I'm heading over to my mates place this weekend to borrow his hoist and do the swapI'll let you know the results
Very Happy with GSL Rallysport , service and advice second to none
regards
Watto

They are top people at GSL Rallysport/Brakes Direct but I'm not convinced that the rear brake rotors need to be upgraded (unless yours were worn and needed replacing anyway).
Be prepared for a significant increase in braking noise from the slotted rotors (the pads shouldn't be any noisier than stock)

VW - Metallic Paint, Radial Tyres, Laminated Windscreen, Electric Windows, VW Alloy Wheels, Variable Geometry Exhaust Driven Supercharger, Direct Unit Fuel Injection, Adiabatic Ignition, MacPherson Struts front, Torsion Beam rear, Coil Springs, Hydraulic Dampers, Front Anti-Roll Bar, Disc Brakes, Bosch ECU, ABS
Price was $626.60 and they arrived the next day
I decided all round , The old ones are original and still had some meat on them but I though while I'm doing it, why not , If I ever go further with modding It's already done, The noise doesn't bother me that much, the stereo is always cranked hahaha. I'm a deaf muso
The T2's are as good as we can get in standard size on the 9n3 and remsa's are good for enthusiastic street and light track work. The only way up from here is towards higher temp pads, but that won't make stopping any better, just last longer at high temps. The hardware you've now got is more than adequate to handle the additional power and stopping requirements.
PS - I don't, and never have noticed any additional noise from slotted rotors. And you were wise to heed the advise on RDA's, extra money well spent.

The DBAs are non-directional - that's one of their marketed advantages.
It made the same noise with both stock and aftermarket pads so it could only be the rotors - the sound was louder when new and decreased with the slot depth.
I am running 256mm rotors atm - dunno how the size could affect this but it's possible the bigger rotors are quieter?![]()
