I am pretty sure cars like the polo cup cars have pumped front gaurds. They run a 17X7.5 and is completly in the gaurd and there is no way u could do that with our cars.

Hi there, I was wondering how some of the tuning companies ie. BB's Garage are fitting 18x8" alloys and 215/35R18's on the little Polo? I think I have read in a thread on this forum that Guy from APR only uses 17x7.5" and 205/45R17 for street and when he races, reason being when he used 215/45's he had some pretty bad scrubbing.
Thanks for your help![]()

I remember reading a UK VW tuning mag and they sold aluminum wheel spacers for the 9N which came in a few different sizes from memory. I guess there would be a couple of advantages such as a wider wheel track and the ability to use wider tyres.
Has anyone ever used wheel spacers before?
Interesting thers not much space in the front for spacers i wounder what size they were.
I found this on the BB's Garage site. It seems as though it may depend on the offset of the wheel perhaps. http://www.bb-automobiltechnik.de/bb...B2_polo_9n.php
For this particular wheel they say it can only fit with 5mm spacers and a 215/35R18 tyre.
Where as with this link http://www.bb-automobiltechnik.de/bb...B1_polo_9n.php they say you can go as wide as a 225/35R17 tyre and no spacers needed.
So what are your thoughts is it all to do with offset???
Just found another tuning company MTM who is selling them http://www.mtm-online.de/en/index.ph...3&FZID=POLO110

What is the offset for the GTI anyways?
Revotechnik stage 1 flash, BC Sports coilovers, Lenso Type M's, APR R1 diverter valve
I think this is correct
-Wheels PCD 5X100 offset is 43
-Tyres are continental contact sports 2 205/45 16
Hey there
Are there any members out there who have put 18's on thier polo? Just wondering if they fit? Any Advice would be great
other than that they'd look slightly dumb... this is an easy way to check things like that it saves having to do calculations:
