    17" wheel/rim size for a 2007/2008 Polo GTi

    All

Can someone please tell me if the following wheel/rim size is suitable for a 2007/2008 Polo GTi?
    17x7.0 +35 5x100

    Thanks in advance

    They should be fine.

The offset is a little low for my liking (I'd prefer closer to 40) but people who like "poke" have run with less.

They will stick out 9mm further than the standard rims.
What size tire do you plan to run?

Was hoping to put Bridgestone Potenza RE002 tires on the rim.

From what I read on the "Polo tyre" thread, either 215/40R17 or 205/40R17 seems to be the two choices?

The 215 will probably rub the front guards unless you get them rolled. The 6R guys have a bit more room under the arches.

    Thanks guys.

I already took the risk and bought the rims yesterday.

I called a couple of tyre shop today and told them I have 17" rims for my car. One shop asked me for my existing stock tyre size and he said the 205/40 R17 will be the best fit for my car but this tyre is apparently less common than the 215/40 R17 and hence costs $20 more per tyre.

I am in Perth so I think there isn't a lot of tyre retailer choices for me? K Mart Tyres and Bob Jane are the two retailers I have called. Does anyone else knows what other tyre retailers in Perth carry Bridgestone tyres???

How did you get on here, did 215/40 work fine on those rims? I've got a set of rims the same specs, but the jury is out on the tyre size. Probably wouldn't mind going 205/45 r17 if it'll work with my h&r springs.

I run 205/45 R17s with my H&R springs. They clear fine and are a nice fit, fill the arches really well

Sweet! Do you think the speedo is a bit pessimistic now? I think standard they're like 10% optimistic on these cars.

I don't think so. Although I haven't ever really tested it. Put it this way, if I go past speed cameras bang on the limit, I don't get pinned for speeding so it can't be to far out even with taking the speed buffer allowance into account..
