stick to 17s, 18s will just be a hassle specially once you lower
Hey kids
Im in the process of getting some new shoes for the new POLO TDI....i have been thinking 17" or 18". Problem is i dont want the wheels to look to big. I will be lowering her as well. Does anybody have any combonation suggestions about 17" vs 18" with the lowering kit to follow after the wheels?
Cheers

it depends on the surface you drive on - if its perfect everytime each time then 18's wont be a huge problem - but to keep your gearing close to stock you need to use 215/35/R18 tyres - that low a profile - hit a pothole and its bye-bye tyre (i lost three in 6 months)
that convinced me to go to 17" and i havent had a single problem since - in fact just checked the tyre pressue for the first time yesterday after putting in the new tyres and filling with nitrogen (that was 10000km's ago) and it hadnt even wavered a bit - still exactly as it was on the day i installed those new tyres
so 17's get my vote definitely
I'd go 17's as well. The polo is a small car, I don't see a need to put big wheels on it. Find some nice 17's, put them on, give it a nice drop and you're set![]()

yeah think 17" are the best option. Does anybody know what size tires will go with the 17" on the Polo?

Think they will be 205/40. Any wider will scrub.
205/40 sounds great...love the 40 profile..

dEF 17" imho 18" look out of proportion to the car..and $$
17" suits the best i reckon. but get the widest you can 7.5?
little bit off topic, if you change ur wheels, what happen to the tyre pressure sensor?
