if i recall correctly, 15'' wheels can run over vr6 sized brakes with a 5mm spacer. a guy with a red vr6 in qld is doing it.
Hi,
Can anyone confirm from actual experience if a 15" wheel will fit over the standard gti brakes? The wheels I can source are fine for stud pattern and offset.
Pondering the thought of a 15" with semi slicks for track days.
Any first hand experience or opinion is welcome.
cheers
Sean

Can you go and test fit a wheel to your front hub?
It doesn't need to have a tyre mounted as you just need to make sure it spins without hitting the calipers.
isn't the spare wheel a 15" steel one? couldn't you test with that? i know i've used the 15" spare wheel on my front left before and they definitely clear the stock brakes.
polo gti's have a full size spare.

oh, sorry bout that. in malaysia, we get a 15" space saver steel wheel. and as i mentioned, i've used it before. it'll clear the front brakes with no issues.
Thanks for the input. Will have to try find some time for a trial fit.
