Question 100 RON Fuel with 10 Ethanol suitable for Polo Gti

    Hi,

I just noticed that united is stocking 100 Ron Fuel with 10% ethanol content at some of their stations.

    Premium 100

The FCAI website claims all VW models post 1986 (fuel injected) are suitable for this fuel.

Can my vehicle operate on Ethanol blend petrol? : FCAI

Anyone with any experience with this? Is there any real risk in using it (I usually fill up BP ultimate 9?

If you care for your car, you will only use BP Ultimate or equivalent 98Ron premium petrol.

Putting ethanol in a car that is not specifically designed to run on ethanol fuel is not going to bode well for the longevity of the engine.

As much as I'm an advocate of BP Ultimate, the Polo IS designed to run fine on ethanol mixes.

Hell, if there was a tune available, I'd seriously consider an E85 tune for the Polo provided the fuel system can push out the extra fuel required.

As for the OP, 100 octane with 10% ethanol is fine. I've used the old Shell V-power racing (100 octane with ethanol) in my old WRX and while it was fine to run, I didn't feel any power gain, and I certainly felt the ~10% loss in economy.
