Sounds like a shagged turbo!
Hey all,
I've tried to search for the answer but couldn't find what I was looking for.
I bought a 06 polo gti last week and noticed white smoke on idle once I stop and park the car.
It's done it a few times randomly in the one day so far. can also smell abit of burning oil from the rear too.
checked oil levels, and all is fine.
It doesn't smoke when driving.. as far as i know anyway
Mods are apr tune, k04, fuel reg, fmic and panel filter, exhaust..
Car drives well, when it boosts I hear a loud whining noise but not sure if its normal or not.. Drives very well though.. I'm new to vw so not sure what is normal and what isn't.. Seems to come from the driver side.
Cheers in advance for the help

Sounds like a shagged turbo!
Cheap, Fast, Reliable. Choose two.
Take off the turbo inlet pipe and see what the shaft moves like.

thats what im thinking too.. but would it still pull pretty hard even if it was stuffed? or would it have alot more smoke than randomly on idle? ive read a few threads about the turbo gasket flange is common to need replacing, could it be that by any chance?
thats what makes me think twice about it..
are the turbos easy to access on these cars?
i know nothing about them which sucks..
ive been around my jap cars for too long and seems alot easier!
Air filter out and you can get in pretty well. You probably have a silicon TIP so a jubilee clip will secure that I think.
My Polo was really laggy with the dead turbo but still made almost all the requested boost.
