From memory my mods cost the following
forge fmic $1k
downpipe $1k
apr $1.5k
forge splitter $100
got a quote from a local mechanic who specializes in euro cars for the following mods for my POLO GTI.
Forge FMIC
Non Resonated Milltek turbo back exhaust
Adjustable Closed Loop Diverter Valve
Polo 9N3 GTI stage 2 Chip + Tune
Grand total of $5,400
sounds like a fairly good deal to me...can anyone get a better package deal
elsewhere in melbourne?

From memory my mods cost the following
forge fmic $1k
downpipe $1k
apr $1.5k
forge splitter $100
APR V2 | APR Downpipe + custom catback | APR solid mount | FMIC | SEAT intake | BMC filter | FORGE 007DV | KW v1 | WHITELINE RSB
139Kw | 271.8Nm atw - At a new home
this is what i got quoted, however brought it down to 5.4k. i guess the turbo back made a big difference compared to
just the down pipe.
Milltek Full turbo back exhaust
$2479.22
Forge Front Mounting Intercooler
$1372.19
FMCL007PA - Adjustable Closed Loop Diverter Valve
$368.68
Polo 9N3 GTI stage 2 168kw/360nm
$1795.31
the final priced included labor and gst.

i bought my front mount with the group buy
i got my chip and downpipe done the same time but i wish i had waited a little bit longer to save enough for a full non reso system. but wats done is done

it would be cheaper to do most of it yourself, ie source the parts and go for some different ones. for example forge fmic can be had for under 1100 and can quite easily be installed by yourself (i bought it as a single order and installed it). Diverter valve can be had O/S for quite a bit less.
as for the chip it doesnt say what brand so dont know. and if brand name exhaust isnt required i think a custom one can be had for less.
However if the package deal is definately what you want/need then i'd say its a fairly good deal. just wont be as cheap doing it separately.
Well you're not getting ripped off or anything if that is parts and labour it's a pretty good deal.
can you get the parts for cheaper.. probably, but you will have to hunt around and wait.
If you install some of the stuff yourself you could save cash their too.
but if you want all the parts sourced for you and installed and you have the cash just take the deal.
Does sound like a lot of money for what you are going to get.
What brand is the tune? Thats more expensive than APR who I thought was the most expensive.
I don't see the point in the Milltek exhaust which is only really going to add about 10kw (give or take, it could add a little more). If its the sound you are after, atleast you know what to expect.
If you wanted to strip the cost, you could get the exhaust from the local group buy if its not going to mess with the tune (cant see how it could). Otherwise quite reasonable.
well i left the entire job to the one place, that way i could make the most on negotiating prices for the package. also i didnt
realy want to risk trying to do some of the labor myself like the FMIC and BOV just to save about $200. so decided to leave
the job in the hands of professionals.
the other option was leave it to APR. but i calculated with the prices on their site and it works out to be $5975 for all the parts
im getting, but im sure they can bring that down if ur getting the package. so unless they can knock it down by $600 it'll work
out to be the same. the only difference is:
ARP or Milltek full exhaust?......APR or Forge front mount?....APR ECU or Stage 2 Tune with Evolve Technik?
or the other option was source out products individually.
@Kiel_Gti- Forge FMIC under 1100?? is this direct from Forge delivered + GST?
@noone- i was intending on joining the group buy but never heard back from anyone.
thank you all for your feedback!
Not a bad price really considering labor in inclusive. Only thing I would do different is scource the DV and install yourself to save some coin.
The FMIC is a 1/2 day to full day install. They have a guide available on their website if you are interested. The Forge unit has been known to reduce the boost by a few PSI in some cases (could be all cases). The APR unit is a better option, but more costly and the prices on their site would likely not include install unless specified.
The BOV / Diverter valve takes 10 minutes with very basic parts. You don't need someone to do this for you. There is quite a variety of these available from Forge, APR, Bailieys, ebay sellers and a few other options.
For Forge parts, if you join the Seat.Net website, there is a 10% discount code on there. For a single unit direct, expect to pay 1100 - 1300 depending on the exch rate.
I think you need to come back a step and think about what you are trying to achieve. If you want power, skip all that and get a garrett turbo with supporting mods and tune for a few thousand more. even with heatsoak, etc, you will have MUCH more power that way.
I don't know much about the Evolve Tune, they don't list a Stage 2 for the Polo on their site. Do you have details on another Stage 2 evolve tune in Aust?
If you go with APR, Giac, etc, it will be cheaper tune, but would get you around 150kw, what mods are required for the Stage 2 with Evolve?
I think the exhaust is a waste of money, but it depends if you are after power or the sound. Some prior testing was done, dump pipe added 5-10kw, full exhaust was 10-15kw (I may have these numbers wrong, have a look around for the thread). Thats why I'm saying you don't really get bang for buck on the exhaust, you'd be better off spending the $$$ elsewhere.
Maybe just get a chip for now and see how you feel about the handling, there is much more improvement to be had there than the little bits of work after the chip to get a little more power.
