    Polo gear change problems

    Hi there mates!

I have a couple of questions, my 1997 volkswagen polo is struggling to find gear but only first and reverse no scratching i think it might be gear bushes and the linkage if someone have had this problems before and sorted them i would really appreciate some advice and my other question is I'm sure this is a common question. Is it possible to change indicators and tail lights of a 6n2 to a 6n polo? The car looks real old with yellow indicator lights!

    Cheers

Tail lights are interchangeable, and you can get the correct clear indicators off eBay.

Sounds like the linkage bushes are worn.

I agree, linkage issue, I have had it on many polo's it's a cup and ball arrangement, the cups are plastic and often break among other things.... Not hard to fix either way, so won't worry

If you're in need of any 6n1 parts, odds are that I am going to have them (dismantling 2 at the moment)

no worries.. ive got stuff around all the time, depends what you are after, normally the common stuff i dont have (as i probably bought the car for it in the first place) but let me know what you are after.

FWIW, clear front and side indicators are cheapest from the UK I have found. quality isn't 'great' but its by no means rubbish either. rear lights are somewhat harder to find but not impossible

    Polo gear change problems

I have this exact issue, difficult to engage first and reverse, but interestingly enough has no issue engaging those gears on start up when it's cold.
Once it gets up to operating temp is when first becomes trickier to engage. No grinding, just won't slip in without some jiggling and pushing the lever as far to the left as it will go. Surely can't be linkage if it doesn't happen when cold?
