Hi there its been a while, I have broken up the TSi now so have the engine, all the wiring and the DSG 7sp. Unfortunately the DSG copped a bit of damage in the old car, can be repaired no doubt but its gonna be pretty hard anyway so I ended up acquiring another silver 6N2 that had a knackered engine but has 5 speed manual etc. In my minds eye the 6n2 manual should mount up ok as the TSi block still is technically the same layout of the AHW ( OEM 6n2 1.4 16V) time will tell in the next couple of weeks. Will fix the DSG and decide anyway otherwise ill punt it. Few 6N2 parts be for sale from the new donor
    Cheers

Why are you going with the 6n2 gearbox when it is notorious for breaking? Of all the VW gearboxes it would have to be the weakest.

I went through 2 on my Polo before getting Matt at Camden GTI to build a close ratio box using Ibiza bits and even that box failed.

Cant agree more mate to be honest, its availability at the moment, If I can fix the DSG I will , it just happens to be one of the ones in the clear recall wise. there is a lack of info regarding the accumulator in the 7sp and that's the part that's sustained damage, and usual answer is change it, don't think so. Who knows. It has a big sticker on the case saying do not remove, well I will be next week. time will tell, I f I do end up using the 6n2 manual and it breaks which is likely well so be it ill fit another till I have the DSG done, no biggie.
