Cheers for that. Has been something on my list to fix on our 6n
For a while now our seats were loose & hard to engage in a different position on the tracks. It came to a head when my wife was driving up our neighbours steep drive & the seat slid back to the rear most position so she was having difficulty reaching the pedals.
After removing the seat to work out how it all worked I found this was the offending part. The securing tab on the drivers seat had broken off & moved out of position while the passengers side was completely missing. I do remember some time ago sucking up something with the vacuum cleaner.
And this is where it is located, held in position by the hole.
The seat is supported at three points, one in the front [as in the pic] & two at the rear.
Something I did this time, [not something I normally do] I ordered some parts ahead of time expecting that they would probably need to be ordered. It turned out that the plastic sliders at the rear only had 0.2mm wear on the bottom surface so I left them on.
The front support soft plastic can be installed without taking the seat out completely. Move the seat as far forward as it will go & remove the end plug from the outer rail. Push in tab through hole.
Unclip the trim cover from the inner rail & slide rearwards. Remove nut & bolt from the central position at front of seat & slide seat back far enough so that the soft plastic part can be secured in position. Smear some grease on the top & side of the plastic as well as the metal part with all the locating holes at the seat base. Slide seat forwards & grease the bottom of each seat runner. Reinstall all the bits & the seat should slide freely & the locating pin engage every time without rocking the seat about. There should now be no sideways movement, just like it was when new.
Part no. for the plastic bit is 435881203A & cost around $12.
Understand how it works, troubleshoot logically BEFORE replacing parts.
