Volkswagen ELECTRONICS specialist?
Hey guys just wanted to know if anyone knows any mechanics who are familiar with or specialise with volkswagen electronics in sydney, preferibly south west but for a good mechanic im keen to go anywhere?
Problem is lately ive had black smoke coming out back. we hooked it up to vagcom and its coming back as oxygen sensor - no signal. The thing is though we replaced the oxygen sensor with a brand new one 20,000km ago . We think it has something to do with the electronics being stuffed thus sending the wrong signals to the sensor. In the end we are getting black smoke and high fuel consumption.
Its a mk4 2.0l golf.
cheers

Was it a full version of VAG-COM. Did you just look at fault codes or have you looked at the measuring blocks too?
You can look at the output of the probe with the engine running using measuring blocks. Proving the probe is good or bad.
Can you get to Campbelltown, Camden GTI.

Hey, my brother said the following:
Its a new sensor throwing out an error code P0134, he cleared the error code and the error comes back even though the measuring block is showing the sensors changing voltages.
So something is definetly up, basically like i said we bought a new sensor and its stuffing up again. Is this something youd be able to take a look at and fix down at campbelltown gti or..?

Matt will take your money at any time of the day usually. On Saturdays though, don't show up too late.
He has a ramp which makes looking under the car easier.
Are you sure the Lamdba probe voltage is changing with the engine running.
At tickover from cold it should be a bit rich until the water temp comes up, then it should cycle rich, lean, rich pretty regularly.
If you drive it and plant your foot it will go rich and stay there as you go open loop, then drop back into a cruise and it should start to cycle again.
I wonder if something else isn't amiss if you think the probe is working.
