    Towbars Melbourne

Looking for someplace to supply and fit a towbar on 06 Multivan in the Melbourne area.
Rang our usual place, they only supply the rear bull bar with tongue bar.
Only after fixed tongue, not the full width bar.
Only need 1200 or so kg, and someone that knows how to wire them properly.
    Ta

Our problem with tow bars is that only the VW genuine is a small bar and the aftermarket bars are all full width taillight protector bars (if anyone can correct me on that, please do, it's doing my head in!!) If you can deal with a taillight protector bar, go to Ultimate 4WD (TJM) on Sydney rd in Coburg and tell them I sent you. Otherwise you'll have to drop in to a VW dealer to get genuine.

Sam, I've seen some T5s getting around with just the fixed tongue (two bolts?).
I thought VW towbars were Hayman Reece with square removable bars.
If so, someones installing flat bars, no light protectors.

The VW genuine is a box hitch, yes.

The ones you have seen are probably the hayman reese standard duty (1250kg) bar, i have something in my head telling me they have TLPs too but there's something else in my head telling me i might be wrong. I'd recommend giving the guys at TJM a call, they'll know. PM if you'd like the number

    Some things just take time!!

Thanks Sam, I did get onto TJM, and they were very helpful.

I did have the van booked in for a towbar fitting couple of weeks ago with another place, 1250 kg bar no tail light protectors.

Get there (hours drive plus a lift following) and they have a tail light protector towbar

    Some ppl just don't listen

They were going to get back to me, still haven't heard. Probably a good thing, I might've been just a bit grumpy.

But, found someone fitting a 2500 kg hitch, and all wiring, and they're coming here, for $850

    Bargin!!

I'll post pics when they finish next Monday

So sorry lemmiwinks, completely forgot about this thread
    It was Melbourne Towbars
The guy that came out here was not the best, I ended up taking it back to them in Coburg to sort a few things out
All good in the end, and their loan car is a hoot! (a very old and worn 121)
