Hey guys,
Hoping for some advice from people who know more about cars than I do! I'm hoping to sell my car in the near future and took it to the mechanic to get a roadworthy. I'm not sure if I am being ripped off, or if I genuinely need to do all these things to pass the roadworthy. Currently they are quoting $2800 (the car isn't worth too much more) for all the repairs to pass a roadworthy.
Car is 2007 Volkswagen Golf (V Comfortline Hatchback 5dr Man 5sp 1.6)
They said I needed the following:
- Replace front l/h outer CV boot
- Replace engine mounts
- Replace rear brake pads (they are 3mm but are scored)
- Replace rear rotors
- Replace rocker cover gasket
- Injector seals
- Intake manifold gaskets
- Engine degrease
- 4 new tyres
Do you think $2800 is reasonable? And are all these things that are safety issues (and need to be passed for a roadworthy)? Also what are my options (I'm new to QLD)! Am I allowed to get another roadworthy for a second opinion?
Happy for any advice or suggestions!
