I have just recently bought a 99 GTI thinking the rattle noise under load in first gear was due to a leak in the exhaust system or something. This noise has since gotten louder and more consistent. After reading up on the common issues and seeking mechanical advise it seems the problem is most likely related to the transmission bearings.
Therefore I am now on the search for a transmission specialist (manual) who can help me out. At this stage I have no idea who I should be speaking to or how much it would cost me. Ideally i'd like to find someone in the northern suburbs, however I will travel for the right workshop if need be.
So guys if you have experienced this problem then please share your experience with me, or if you simply know who I should be speaking to then please share their contact details.
Thanking you all in advance
