Good brand of breaks/break pads?

My mkV needs new rear brake pads about 40% left. I've seen some through auto parts direct. I wouldn't do the work myself, but would rather get some good ones and then have a mechanic install them, rather than him putting some rubish on there.. I don't need 'THE BEST' but just something decent.
Any reccomendations?

i did mine recently and i used Mintex. Low dust but the car doesnt brake as it used to, apperently the compound is too hard. I'd go for Textar, that's what VW uses (on my car at least). they dust a lot but the car brakes properly. Imparts gave me a very good price ($70 for rears) and they are Australia wide

They would recommend you use genuine VAG parts from the dealer - why would they recommend anything else?

Ferodo pads are quite good. I'd recommend you contact their tech department, tell them what your usage is & they can recommend which grade of pad would suit (they have about 10 different grades).

I've also used Bendix in the past and they've been OK but I think Ferodo are the better pad (when correctly specced for usage).

A mate uses Endless pads on his EVO & rates them highly.

I'd keep away from Green Stuff if it was for normal day driving. I've got them and I have to say they don't do shiiiiiiiiiiiit unless I've given it a good jab before (or I get white smoke and a small heart attack ).

I'd stick to the Mintex/Pagid for daily driving.

They are The Dealer. They are obligated to tell you that the OEM VW Genuine Spare Part is the only part that will keep your VW "as it came from the factory." In addition, the Dealers workshop has the only mechanics that are truly qualified to work on your VW (in their opinion).

They have to toe the corporate line. Do you honestly think they would recommend you go elswhere when they can sell you the parts & service?
