German Autos in Adelaide

Have to give a huge recommendation and praise to the boys down at German Autos in Melrose Park, Adelaide.

I was having regeneration and DPF issues with my GT. Kept going into active regen a bit too often and eventually engine light came on so I dropped it into my regular local dealer service department Solitaire for them to have a look at it. They diagnosed it as a faulty Exhaust pressure sensor. Now from all the regular posts here I know that this is a common problem but its also relatively in-expensive too as the part only retails for about $112 and can be bought as cheap as $80 on ebay. I also know that its a simply job to replace the part as its easily accessed in the engine bay. What I was incredibly surprised by was Solitaires quote to me for the replacement at approx $700!!!!!! They stated that it would take 4.5 hours to install hence the high cost and worse still was that they were already going to charge over $200 because it took them about 1.5 hours to diagnose the problem!! I was forced to pay for their work so far and took it to German Autos instead. Andrew down at German Autos diagnosed the issue for free in about 2 minutes simply by plugging in his VAG COM to my diagnostics port ( 1.5 hours my a@$! ), sold me the part for $118 and told me to just fit it myself as it was easy. Indeed it took me 5 minutes to fit. I dropped it back in to German Autos for them to clear the code which they did in another 2 minutes and free of charge and the car is now perfect. Job DONE!! Don't think I'll ever be going back to Solitaire.
